Pilots to speak out at EU Parliament Hearing on Flight Time

Flight Time Limitations EU Hearing 18 June 2013On 18 June, European pilots and cabin crew representatives raised concerns about the proposed new Rules for Flight and Duty Time limitations at a Parliamentary Hearing in the EU Transport Committee.

This public hearing was an opportunity for MEPs to take an informed decision and to learn about the serious safety loopholes in the EASA proposal, before accepting or rejecting the rules in the autumn. During the Hearing, representatives of all stakeholders, including EASA, airlines and scientists, were given the floor, with ECA Board Director, Jon Horne, representing the pilots’ voice. MEPs also quized the speakers during the 2-hour Hearing. The debate was public and a 10-minute summary is available below.
